Clear View Vineyards ~ Our Estate Vineyards
We grow eighteen acres of Sauvignon Blanc grapes for nearby Rodney Strong Winery. Our family vineyard is two acres of Zinfandel for family wine-making. You are invited to walk through our private vineyards during your stay. Come to the wine country any time of year—four seasons means four reasons to come to Healdsburg.
A year in the life of Clear View Vineyards…
January ~ Vines are pruned and trellis systems are repaired.
February ~ Wild mustard grows creating a beautiful field
of yellow flowers.
March ~ “Bud break” occurs—vines are misted with water to avoid
frost damage.
April & May ~ Spring is in the air—tiny leaves and tendrils appear.
June ~ Berries develop and vines leaf out with long sunny days and
cool nights.
July & August ~ Grapes grow, sweeten, soften and change
color (veraison).
September ~ Harvest time—the Rodney Strong winemaker tests
often for sugar level ( brix ). The winemaker looks for brix, color
and “mouth feel” of the juice. We are directed when to pick and
deliver the crop to the crush pad just two miles away. Our
Sauvignon Blanc grapes are usually harvested in September.
October ~ Grape vines change colors due to shorter days and
cooler nights.
November & December ~ Cover crops are planted to nourish soil
and control erosion. Vines will soon be pruned and the cycle of
growth will begin once again.

Instead of poisons, barn owls
control gophers and moles in
our vineyards and gardens.
